Senior Lecturer in Music, Dr Paul Smith, reports from UNE Sydney:

September and October mark a busy time for members of UNE’s Cultural and Creative Arts Network. The final two ‘Creative Conversations’ are happening as part of our partnership with the Joan Sutherland Performing Arts Centre, bringing arts research to the community. Dr Richard Jordan will present his work on posthumanism and theatre, and the 2023 series will conlcude with Dr Alina Kozlovski’s work on ancient spaces that could be seen as precursors to modern museums.

Associate Professor Donna Hewitt is convening this year’s Australasian Computer Music Conference. The event will be hosted by UNE Sydney in October, bringing artists and researchers together in a series of paper sessions and concerts across three venues in Parramatta. Associate Professor Hewitt has fostered partnerships with the City of Parramatta, Riverside Theatres, and the PHIVE community hub to create a series of installations and events. The conference will also showcase our music students and HDRs.

Also in October, UNE will once again partner with the Parramatta Lanes festival, an annual event bringing thousands from the local community to the Parramatta CBD. UNE will be a featured site of the festival and our carpark will be activate with a performance stage, bar and food trucks for four festive nights.
