The school converted to fully online during the week from 4 August 2025 due to the snow on 2 August and the instability of trees and limbs. It was, however, magical.

- AgQuip 2025 – Kristy O’Neill, Jo Bird and Sue Gregory were privileged to attend AgQuip this year to market education to our future students (Day 2 was a little wet and boggy).
ASCILITE Spring into Excellence Research School
- This year, the School of Education was able to support the following people to attend the three day research school in Brisbane (in early September): Majida Mehana, Nathan Lowien, Katy Walsh, Alicia Phillips, Nadya Rizk, Rose Mutuota and YooMi Byun.
NSW Premier’s Teacher Scholarship Reception
On Tuesday, 16 September 2025, Associate Professor Brendan Jacobs, Head of Department, STEM Education and Professor Sue Gregory, Head of School, Education were privileged to be able to attend NSW Parliament House to support UNE sponsored NSW Premier Teacher Scholarship recipient, Mrs Tara Green. Tara, a Teacher of STEM at Elizabeth Macarthur High School will undertake research and a study tour, spending time researching to improve the quality and relevance of Earth and Environmental Science education to prepare students to navigate sustainable challenges and pursue careers in geoscience and environmental management. Tara will examine how STEM-based strategies and First Nations perspectives are successfully embedded into teaching and learning programs through hands-on, inquiry-based approaches, grounded in real-world STEM and Indigenous perspectives to enhance student engagement, conceptual understandings and academic achievement in Earth science.
Tara plans to spend approximately a month gathering data and visiting schools in Northern Territory (Darwin, Kakadu, Litchfield Park, Katherine and Kununurra) and, in Western Australia (Purnululu, Fitzroy Crossing, Broome, Port Hedland, Onslow, Exmouth, Carnarvon, Denham, Geraldton and Perth). A very busy schedule.
The School of Education at the University of New England are proud to support Tara’ research and study tour through her NSW Premier’s Teacher Scholarship. Tara will visit UNE after her Study Tour to update the School of Education of her findings and how she has progressed with the tour.
