Untitled2Academic leaders play a key role in the development of individuals and teams focussed on enhancing teaching and learning, research and community engagement. Leaders develop and influence others through professional dialogue in both formal and informal contexts. The outcomes of this exchange can be enhanced through the use of open questioning and coaching strategies.

As Coach, academic leaders provide guidance, direction and support to organisational objectives and professional and personal needs. Research indicates that initiatives including on-the-job coaching have an increased likelihood of effect, almost three times that of workplace training off-the-job.

Program content:

In this program participants will build their personal knowledge, skills, and ability to provide effective workplace coaching through the application of a “five star principles” approach to coaching in the workplace and how these may be applied in dyadic and collaborative configurations within academic teams.

The full day workshop is interactive.

Support materials for the workshop include “Academic Leader as Coach: Nurturing Talent and Building Capacity” toolkit.

Post program support:

The program includes pre-workshop introductory materials and follow-up contact for all participants two – three weeks after the workshop.

Target Audience:

Academic leaders with supervisory responsibilities.
