Emeritus Professor Ray Cooksey recently shared with us the news that a paper co-authored with one of UNE Business School’s PhD graduates, Dr Ravi Pappu and his co-supervisor Professor Pascale Quester (University of Adelaide) had won a major award for impact from the Journal of Product and Brand Management (Emerald Publishing).

The award is from Emerald Group Publishing  Limited and is entitled “The Inaugural Journal of Product and Brand Management Award for most impactful article”.  The citation for the award reads “This article was deemed by the editorial team to have had the greatest impact on the field of branding knowledge over the first 25 years of the journal’s publication”.

The article: Pappu, R., Quester, P., & Cooksey, R. (2005). Consumer-based brand equity: Improving the measurement – empirical evidence. Journal of Product and Brand Management, 14(3), 143-154.

Ray was Ravi Pappu’s principal supervisor for his PhD, which he completed in 2003 and this article emerged directly from his PhD research.  Professor Pascale Quester from the University of Adelaide was his co-supervisor.  Ravi is now Associate Professor of Marketing at the University of Queensland. Ray shares: “I am very proud to have been his supervisor and to watch his career as a marketing academic blossom.”
