“Using Social Psychology to Address Real-World Problems”

Social problems can seem overwhelmingly complex and may be intimidating to tackle, and it can be difficult to know where to begin.  Fortunately, social psychology provides a large body of knowledge that can be applied to most issues that involve human social behaviour.  As consulting social psychologists, we provide a way to access this information and apply it to the problem at hand.

We explicitly use social psychology’s PATH model as a framework to systematically analyse complex problems to develop solutions:

P:     The problem phase, in which we define the exact issue to be addressed.

A:     The analysis phase, in which we access empirical evidence on the problem.

T:     The test phase, in which we produce a model of causes and effects of the problem.

H:      The help phase. This is the outcome of the preceding phases and results in a suitable and effective solution to tackle your issue and the resources available. Methods to evaluate its success will be included in your solution package. If required, an implementation package can also be produced to assist in the smooth implementation of the solution.

Using this process, we carefully analyse the issue at hand and develop an evidence-based solution(s) together with an implementation package, if required.  To enquire about our services, please contact Dr Sue Watt (contact details on this page).
