COVID Update

This week the NSW Health Minister Brad Hazzard and the NSW Chief Health Officer Dr Kerry Chant provided a COVID-19 update, with a reminder that the pandemic is not over.

UNE’s main message is to wear a mask and social distance where possible.

UNE continues to be open for business and welcoming students across all teaching modalities in T2. The UNE community is proud of the leadership we have all displayed in managing our campus return:

  1. Stay at home if you’re unwell, advice for close contacts of a COVID-19 case is on the UNE Safety Hub.
  2. If you contract COVID let your UNE supervisor know and follow the advice on the UNE COVID-Safe campus page and the UNE Safety Hub
  3. Wear a mask in all indoor areas. If you cannot, make sure you focus on social distance.
  4. Actively promote and practice good hygiene, especially hand washing.
  5. Get fully vaccinated if you are eligible (at least three doses; NSW Health is awaiting advice from ATAGI regarding a fourth booster option).
  6. Consider getting a flu vaccination as well.

At UNE, masks are required indoors on our sites except by choice in the following circumstances:

  • Residential students within a college /household (this excludes visitors and intensive school participants).
  • When people are seated at a desk and are physically distanced from others.
  • When a lecturer is presenting to a group assuming others gathered are masked.
