5 tips for creating unit introduction videos

The Learning Media team have been co-creating unit introduction videos for a long time! We’ve curated a few of the best tips and tricks for creating meaningful and engaging unit introduction videos. Watch the video below to see our top tips, or read about it below if you’d rather.

.

1. Start with some information about yourself

This helps to build community and trust with your students and reinforces who you are.

2. Explain what the unit is about

Try answering questions like how will this unit help your students? Why invest time and energy into the unit, even include why you like the unit.

3. Think longevity

The quality of the videos we create can several years before needing to be redone. Consider what information might date quickly, a great example is to leave out references to dates and things that are likely to change in the near future.

4. Welcome students to enjoy the unit

You can project your personality and inject humour.

5. Aim for around 90 seconds

Your final video will likely go for longer, but this is a great goal to aim for.
