As we get closer to the launch of myLearn (42 days to go!), we want to share some more information on the upcoming change to UNE’s learning management system.

What is myLearn?

myLearn is the new name for our learning management system. While still Moodle-based, myLearn is a significantly upgraded version of our current Moodle environment with improved layout, navigation and some new features. Calling it myLearn, rather than Moodle as we have done in the past, has been a deliberate decision to move away from using the name of the technology to something that is more meaningful to students.

When will myLearn launch?

myLearn will go live on Friday, 13th October 2023 as an upgrade to our existing Moodle environment. The LMS will be unavailable for about 24 hours from late Thursday, 12th October, while we change over after which all units will then be in the new myLearn format. T3 units will go live to students on Monday, 16th October.

Can I take a look before then?

There is information on the changes as well as concept designs on the Project Uplift website. We will also soon be able to give you access to a “staging” environment for you to take a look at the new designs and review (read-only copies) your units in the new environment. We will put out another blog post and will email you once the staging environment is ready with instructions of how to access and provide feedback.

New URL!

As part of the change, all current URLs (moodle.une.edu.au/xxx) will be updated to mylearn.une.edu.au/xxx. We will redirect any existing moodle.une.edu.au links to the new URL for a seamless transition, but do encourage everyone to update any links in pages outside the LMS after October. More info will be made available closer to the change.

What about students?

myLearn has been designed with consistency and a good student experience in mind, and together with the work done during the unit uplift process to move towards a more consistent layout and terminology, we are confident that students will find it a positive change.
