Following an extensive and robust tender evaluation process, UNE recently announced a renewed partnership with ProctorU (and parent company Meazure Learning) to provide online supervision services for examinations. This is an excellent outcome that enables UNE to continue leading the sector in online assessment practice.

Human-delivered online supervision services are a core component of UNE’s assessment landscape as a leading online university, providing the examination conditions that academic areas and accrediting bodies require. They also play a key role in realising UNE’s goals for personalised learning and organisational resilience, allowing students to undertake examinations in a more accessible and personalised environment with tailored 1:1 support that isn’t possible in other assessment contexts and providing assessment services that aren’t dependent on time, location or staffing.

The tender evaluation process provides a key avenue to establish the complex range of requirements from all areas of the university and follow an evidence-based approach to evaluating providers against these – evaluation is undertaken by a team consisting of academic and professional staff across the university and comprehensive user testing is conducted with academic and professional staff and students. Throughout the tender process, Meazure Learning demonstrated a sophisticated understanding of online assessment and of UNE’s context, presenting a mature service model that significantly outperformed competitors and met or exceeded all UNE requirements.

As we move forward with our renewed engagement with ProctorU, you’ll see some changes that signal a fresh new approach – new language to establish supervision services as a core component of the myLearn assessment ecosystem and retire the old project term OLX, and a range of new initiatives and opportunities. We’ll also be renewing our organisational landscape around examinations, with improved documentation and processes in areas such as privacy and special assessment. Look out for more information on these, as well as opportunities to get involved, in the near future.
