UNE Business School Seminar Series – “An Overview of Wyoming Agriculture and Natural Resources”

by bamon2 | Aug 22, 2016 | International Engagement, School Events, Seminar Series | 0 comments

UNE Business School and the Centre for Agribusiness were very happy to host a visit from our friends at University of Wyoming, Professor Nicole Ballinger and Mr Thomas Foulke.

Last week, our visitors arrived to cool New England winter weather to enjoy an on-campus visit with members of the UNE Business School as well as friends in School of Environmental and Rural Science. Our university has a unique friendship with University of Wyoming (UoW) as a frequent host of our students on exchange programs.

The seminar, in a shared presentation between Professor Ballinger and Mr Foulke, was a perfect opportunity for members of the UNE Business School to hear more about the many similarities between Armidale and Laramie, Wyoming. With shared experiences of agriculture and landscape as well as weather, the seminar gave us a clear impression of formative elements of the environment in Wyoming, both physical and industrial.

The seminar also provided an overview of the policies that impact on the state. Other topics of interest and relevance were the role played by energy production (gas/oil/coal) in Wyoming state finances, and impacts of this energy production on agriculture, community and landscapes. We were also excited to learn more about the University of Wyoming and the Department of Agricultural and Applied Economics and its undergraduate and postgraduate programs.

The full presentation can be accessed via UNE Business School’s Seminar page.
