Our staff on the road – International Teaching with Dr Phil Harrell

by bamon2 | Jun 29, 2017 | International Engagement, Staff News, Teaching Excellence | 0 comments

Dr Phil Harrell, funded by the European Union, was an invited Visiting Professor at the University of Tartu in Estonia. During March/April Dr Harrell conducted staff development workshops in ‘Leading with Values’ and ‘Consulting Skills for Academics’. As well as running multiple workshops in ‘Strategy’ and ‘Business Ethics’ for undergraduate students.

In June, Dr Harrell was invited to conduct staff Leadership Development workshops at RMIT Vietnam. RMIT’s student teaching policy was of particular interest, with the use of textbooks and lectures banned at RMIT. All courses must be industry focused and taught through interactive workshops – is this the way of the future?

Dr Harrell also presented a paper at the International Business, Finance and Management Conference (BEFMC) in Hanoi  in June entitled ‘Building a Values Based Culture: Multiple Case Studies’. Furthermore, Phil has had a paper (double blind refereed) accepted into the Global Business Congress in Dubrovnik, Croatia in September 2017. The paper is ‘Rethinking Leadership: Building a Values Based Organisation’.
