Professor Alison Sheridan

 

Over 350 scholars from around the world gathered in Sydney for the 10th Biennial Gender, Work and Organization conference hosted by Macquarie University. This is the first time the conference has been held outside the UK, and despite the distance from its traditional site, we saw representation from northern, eastern, southern and western Europe, as well as North America, New Zealand and south east Asia at this year’s conference. Having so many scholars gathered from such diverse cultures provided rich forums for discussion about the doing of gender across the globe.

 

 

UNE Business School was well represented, with presentations across the 3 days:

  • Dr Sujana Adapa and Professor Alison Sheridan presented paper titled ‘Small Business Owner-managers in Regional Australia – Motivating Factors for Men and Women’ – 14th June 2018
  • Dr Lucie Newsome and Professor Alison Sheridan presented paper titled ‘Gender Segregation in Agribusiness Services: Mapping the Terrain’ – 15th June 2018
  • Dr Subba Reddy Yarram and Dr Sujana Adapa presented paper titled ‘Board Diversity and Corporate Social Responsibility – An Australian Exploratory Study’ – 15th June 2018
  • Dr Sujana Adapa and Dr Subba Reddy Yarram presented paper titled ‘Women in Self-employment and Entrepreneurial Roles’ – 16th June 2018
  • Professor Alison Sheridan, Professor Anne Ross-Smith and Professor Linley Lord presented the paper ‘Gender Capital and changing Board Composition’ – 16th June 2018.
