As the UNE Business School continues to work towards its goal of EPAS accreditation for the Bachelor of Business and Bachelor of Agribusiness, Professor Alison Sheridan attended the EFMD Conference for Deans and Directors General at the Technical University Munich (TUM) last week. The theme of the conference was ‘Deans, let’s get digital’ .
From Professor Sheridan’s perspective, ‘the exposure to international perspectives on the impact of digitalisation on the changes in the demands for knowledge offered me the opportunity to critically reflect on these issues at a local level’. The great value in the conference lies in the sharing of insights from across the globe. The plenary session which combined the practical perspective of Corporate Vice President and Chief Strategy Officer of Siemens, Horst Kayser, on how becoming digital is affecting Siemens business, with the insights of the panel of Deans Professor Isabelle Bajeux-Besnainou, McGill University , Canada; Professor Gerry George, Singapore Management University; and Professor Peter Tufano, University of Oxford) about what these sorts of changes means for business education was the highlight of the conference for Alison.
Their considered views of business education for the future offered new ways to think about the challenges ahead.
