This year the Three Minute Thesis Faculty Heats will be a hybrid event, held on campus and via zoom. Presentations will be presented live, either online or face to face.

Each Faculty will have their own competition and these will be held on:

Medicine and Health
Wednesday 28 May at 12:30pm in the Sommerville Lecture Theatre P1 (Room LT101), Patricia O’Shane Building (C013) or online

Cash prizes per faculty are:
1st prize: $500
2nd prize: $300
3rd prize: $200

University Final
Wednesday 24 July 2024 with the prize winners from each faculty advancing to the final. Those that advance to the final will need to submit a pre recorded video. A video recording will need to be submitted for those moving onto the University Finals. 

2024 Virtual Asia-Pacific 3MT Competition
The Winner of the Uni Final will advance to the Asia-Pacific Competition. The Semi-Finals will be held Monday 25 September and the Final will be held Wednesday 18 October. You can find more information on the University of Queensland 3MT website

The Three Minute Thesis (3MT®) is an academic research communication competition developed by The University of Queensland (UQ), Australia. It tests research candidates capacity to effectively explain their research in three minutes, in a language appropriate to a non-specialist audience. An 80,000 word thesis would take 9 hours to present, the time limit is 3 minutes.
