UNE student, Michelle Campione-van Zetten is conducting research into cold housing as part of her Masters in Urban and Regional Planning in the school of Humanities, Arts and Social Sciences under the supervision of Dr Sanaz Alian.
The aim of her research is to explore the opportunities and constraints for improving and maintaining consistent indoor temperatures during winter in Australian dwellings from occupant perspectives. This seeks to gain a deeper understanding of the different methods Australians are using to address the physical shortcomings of their house structures to improve their indoor temperatures, reduce their heating and cooling requirements, and improve their energy efficiency; with an emphasis placed on exploring motivations and limitations.
