The children (and staff) of Yarm Gwanga would like to thank the wonderful Yarm Gwanga families and the wider UNE community for all the support we have received over the last couple of weeks.

As many would know, our beautiful playground and part of our building was in the path of the tornado that swept through Armidale on Thursday, 14 October causing significant damage and resulting in Yarm Gwanga having to temporarily relocate to the Wright Centre.

The amazing team of educators were able to relocate Yarm to the Wright Centre in just a couple of days.

On the following Wednesday, the children arrived at the ‘new’ Yarm (Wright Centre) with a little trepidation. However, the educators had made it look as much like home as possible so it didn’t take long for the children to feel like they belonged. With a huge hall to run in, and new grounds to explore, they have settled in well.

Resuming care of the children in a new venue at such short notice was made possible by all the help we have received from caring members of the community.

To the people who helped to make the grounds safe, the generous donors of numerous donations we have received from all corners of the campus, and to our wonderful parents who have helped us to navigate our ‘New Yarm’, we say “thank you.”
