Change of department name: Information Technology Directorate becomes….

       Technology and Digital Services

The team that delivers technology solutions to the University has been called the Information Technology Directorate for more than a decade and reflects the lexicon of the twentieth century when technology and digital were something ‘other’ than normal business. The term “Directorate” itself speaks to old-fashioned government organisational structures and so it too is no longer relevant in the twenty-first century or in a contemporary organisational structure.

Technology and Digital Services we believe, reflects the more contemporary role and relevance of our team to UNE as an organisation of the future.   We are still passionate about technology and it is at the heart of what we do but we also understand that the twenty-first century is about digital, which as McKinsey says “should be seen less as a thing and more as a way of doing things” and under this banner we will bring our skills, knowledge and expertise to bear in transforming UNE in to a digital organisation.  We chose the term ‘services’ as it speaks of a consultative team where the focus is on the needs of the customer rather than ‘solutions’ which implies an end point that is delivered with no reference to consultation.
