UNE’s Applied Agricultural Remote Sensing Centre (AARSC) received drone training by FPV Australia this week.

Azeem Khan, Moshiur Rahman, Priyakant Sinha and Angelica Suarez, all research fellows with AARSC, successfully completed the training and are now licensed to make use of the university’s M600 drone with both LIDAR and infrared cameras for research purposes for the Centre.

The four-day training program included three days of theory and a practical session which was held out at the UNE Smart Farm and involved four other participants from around NSW including DPI staff, a compliance officer who consults for non-for profit and a photographer.

By having a number of AARSC staff trained to fly the M600, AARSC will add another tier of technological expertise to our research capabilities.
