It is the squadron building for 337 Squadron Australian Air Force Cadets (AAFC).

The Australian Air Force Cadets is a youth oriented organisation that is administered and actively supported by the Royal Australian Air Force.

The AAFC will teach cadets valuable life skills and will help them develop qualities including leadership, self-reliance, confidence, teamwork and communication. Its fundamental aim is to foster qualities that will enable cadets to become responsible young adults, who will make a valuable contribution to the community. No matter what career cadets choose, the AAFC provides a foundation of knowledge and skills that will assist you towards your future.

Do the cadets have fun?

YES cadets have a lot of fun activities, such as flying, field craft, adventure training, firearms safety training, drill and ceremonial, service knowledge, aeromodelling, navigation.

Cadets have regular trips away on activities and last year saw the 337 Squadron travel away for a gliding/powered flying experience weekend in Bathurst, bivouacs to wilderness locations such as the Warrumbungles National Park, trip to RAAF Base Richmond where cadets stay on base and get to experience what it’s like to live on an active air force base and for cadets with a passion for flying there is an opportunity to attend flight training programs.

So there’s lots going on and you are probably thinking this must be expensive, well it’s not. The annual fees are $125.00. Operating in a rural location and suffering from the worst drought in living memory, 337 Squadron is very supportive of cadets and financial barriers will not prevent them from participating.

Can my son/daughter join?

If your son or daughter is aged between 12 – 16 (if aged 12, they must be turning 13 this year), they can join the AAFC and get in on the action. 337 Squadron is holding its next recruitment intake on the 18th and 25th of February and will be running information evenings for parents and potential cadets. Just come on down the Barracks at the back of Sport UNE at 6.30 on either of these dates and learn about the AAFC. There will be current cadets there along with staff that are more than happy to answer any questions you may have. Alternatively give us a call on 0457 506 121 or email 337sqn@gmail.com.
