UNE Sydney will once again be a featured site of the Parramatta Lanes Festival running from October 15-18.

The UNE Music Department has curated four nights of performances at the UNE Sydney campus promoting staff creative music research and professional collaborations with prolific Australian musicians and performers. Everything from experimental electronica to solo virtuosic recorder and smooth jazz to toy pianos will be performed and presented.

Music lecturer Paul Smith will lead the newly formed UNE toy piano orchestra. Coming off of a European residency in Armenia and a festival in Italy dedicated to the toy piano, Paul has sourced 12 of these toy instruments to premiere his new work ‘Constellations‘ on Wednesday night.

Music lecturers Alana Blackburn and Donna Hewitt have also collaborated on a new work which sees Alana combining her recorder playing with Donna’s digital music research on Thursday night.

We will also welcome special guest ensemble The House That Dan Built who will perform their critically acclaimed work ‘Tender Young Creatures‘ in a performance specially mapped to the UNE Sydney laneway on Friday night.

Parramatta Lanes is attended by thousands of Western Sydney residents who will be given an opportunity to visit the UNE campus and see what the music department has to offer.
