The Academic Development area of the Learning and Teaching Transformation Directorate (LaTT) is responsible for the design, implementation and leadership of a range of programs for developing the educational expertise of academic teaching and professional teaching-focused staff.

Our major purpose is to provide professional learning and the resources to support quality teaching practices at UNE. However, the development and provision of teaching-related professional learning is not a top-down process. Rather, it is a collective endeavour.

To help achieve this, we are consulting widely to develop a cutting-edge Academic Development program at UNE. Following on from the focus groups held in July, this week will see the launch of an online survey to determine your academic development needs.

Open to all teaching academics and teaching-related staff, including sessional staff, this survey seeks your feedback on a range of topics including areas for academic development, the way academic development might be best delivered and how it might be recognised at UNE.

The survey will be open until Friday, October 11 so please watch for your email invitation to take part. If you do not receive an invitation this week, please contact me, Mitch Parkes (mparkes2@une.edu.au) and I will send you the link.

Your contributions to this ongoing conversation about academic development are important. I look forward to receiving your input and developing a program that benefits everyone.

Regards,

Associate Professor Mitch Parkes
