Yarm Gwanga is collecting bread tags and plastic bottle lids to support charity projects aimed at helping less privileged people in developing countries.

Bread tags can be deposited at Yarm Gwanga in a bottle on the table at the front entrance.  Once full, the bottle will be sent to Aussie Bread Tags for Wheelchairs which will then be recycled into various products. The funds will be used to buy wheelchairs for people in need in South Africa. This program was launched in August 2018 by Aussie Bread Tags for Wheelchairs, a community network based in South Australia.

Plastic bottle tops will also be collected at Yarm Gwanga in a labelled bottle on the table at the front entrance.  Plastic bottle tops are to be shredded, extruded, and turned into filament for 3D printers, to build prosthetic hands for under privileged people in third world countries.  This project is called Helping Hands and was initiated by Grow With Joe (a group of dedicated volunteers) and Envision (a not-for-profit community-based organisation).

If you wish to, you can also drop eligible bottles and cans for us to take to a Return and Earn Reverse Vending Machines. Refund earned will be used to send collected bread tags and bottle tops to collection points to be recycled.

More information is available and displayed at the entrance of our centre.

Thank you for your support.
