Peter Davies passed away in December 2018. He was a lecturer in Economics at UNE between 1957 and 1966, before resigning to enter business. During his time at UNE, Peter organised numerous residential school in Investments which led to the New Zealand Insurance Co inviting him to advise on their investment policies.

Peter was also a major donor who helped to establish the Maiben Davies Postgraduate Scholarship at UNE in honour of his wife, Maiben, who was killed in a motor accident at the entrance to the UNE grounds on 19 August 1963.

He is remembered for “his good humour, positivity, kindness, ‘full and forthright’ views and sharp intellect.”

A memorial and celebration for Peter will be held on 14 February at the Imperial Hotel, 252 Oxford St Paddington from 11.30am to 2.30pm.
