It’s kick-off time for SportUNE’s popular Interdepartmental Touch Football competition. The four-week tournament starts next week so make sure you nominate your teams – six players on the field – by COB tomorrow. Nominations can be forwarded to Rhys at rporter9@une.edu.au.
The games will take place on the Consett Davis Fields at SportUNE, on Wednesdays at 12pm on:
- April 18th – Round 1
- May 2nd – Round 2
- May 9th – Round 3
- May 16th – Round 4 – Finals
Rules:
- Games will comprise of 15 minute halves with a 2 minute interchange at half time.
- Teams will consist of six-a-side. Replacements may only be made when your side is in possession of the ball (i.e. attacking side). Players which have been replaced may go back into the game at a later stage.
- The dummy-half (i.e. the person receiving the play of the ball) cannot score a try – to do so he/she must pass it. If the dummy-half is touched with the ball the result will be a changeover of possession.
- Kicking is not allowed.
- All defending players must be five metres from the play of the ball in line with the referee. There will be no markers.
- In final matches, if teams are tied, a 5min golden try extra time will occur. If teams still cannot be split, a player from each team will be dropped off every minute until there is only 3 players remaining on each team. If teams are still tied after this time, a coin toss will decide the winner.
