UNE researcher Dr Jamie Barwick was awarded the Australian Wool Innovation Award in the DAWW-ABARES Science Awards for Young People in Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry at the recent 2018 Outlook Conference.

These awards recognise research that will contribute to the ongoing success and sustainability of Australian agricultural industries. Jamie is currently working at UNE as an Early Career Academic after completing his PhD last year. He co-leads the Precision Livestock theme in the Precision Agriculture Research Group (PARG) and is working on precision livestock monitoring systems to manage internal parasites. He also runs his own sheep stud.

Jamie is the fourth person from UNE PARG to receive one of these prestigious ABARES awards. It reflects highly on PARG’s unique mix of enabling sciences and domain knowledge, and their ability to effectively put this mix to work in dealing with practical challenges faced by our producers.
