UNE Library’s Research Assistance and Engagement Services (RAES) will be holding a series of workshops covering a variety of topics across the research lifecycle helping you to select publishers, measure your impact and engagement, disseminate your work online, and manage your research data.

The workshops will be running from October 5 to November 2 and held each Thursday, 2-3pm in The Dixson Library Training Lab. Post-graduate students, researchers, and academics from across all schools are welcome and encouraged to attend.

Preparing research data for the future

Thursday 12 October 2017, 2:00-3:00pm, Dixson Library Training Lab

Research data is a valuable asset. Considering and planning for the future of your data can help you work more efficiently throughout the lifetime of a project. Dissemination of your research data is greatly facilitated through futureproofing. Datasets are rarely single-use, when you want to return to a dataset years after its initial development, the preparations you have made today will pay dividends. The Dixson Library will provide guidance on preparing data for preservation, setting up sensible data packages, thinking about discovery of your data, and thinking about future reuse by you/your team/citers.

Metrics and research impact

Thursday 19 October 2017, 2:00-3:00pm, Dixson Library Training Lab

Measuring your research impact is achieved through harvesting metrics associated with your outputs’ citation, dissemination, and collaboration. These metrics can be leveraged in the narratives informing your applications for grants and promotions. The Dixson Library will provide advice on what metrics are, different kinds of metrics, where to find them, and how to use them when creating narratives around research impact.
