UNE Life, the School of Law and Enactus UNE are hosting a fundraising showing the Rocky Horror-inspired film, The Island of Dr Moron, at the Belgrave Cinema Armidale on Wednesday, 20 September at 6:30pm, with proceeds going to Enactus UNE.

A welcome drink and a selection of canapes will be available for ticket holders, while the creators of the musical, Chris and Lyn Dockrill, will introduce the film. It is divided into 2 one-hour blocks, with a short intermission. A Q&A session with the couple will be conducted following the screening.

Moron is not an imitation of Rocky Horror, but according to the Dockrill’s, “If Rocky Horror created a unique ‘jump-to-the-left’ genre of rock musical, then Moron fits right in.”

The Newcastle Herald recently tagged the film “Rocky Horror on Steroids”.

So in that tradition, coming dressed as a character from the show is encouraged.

There’s a wide array of voodoo natives, mutated half-human/half-animal creatures plus the Doc himself and his retinue. Visit the website for inspiration. UNE Life will have a selection of prizes for the ‘best dressed’ participant: the more outrageous, the better!

Enactus brings together a diverse network of university students, academic professionals and industry leaders around the shared mission of creating a better, more sustainable world through the positive power of business. One of their initiatives is the Minimbah Project, which has helped thousands of people gain access to a birth certificate, enabling them to fully participate in our community.

There are only a limited number of tickets available for this fun-filled night, which can be purchased online from the Belgrave for $30.
