Following staff changes in its senior leadership team, Education Futures have pursued a recalibration of its portfolio structure, and we are excited to announce that the Digital Education portfolio is expanding to include Academic Development and Academic Integrity. These areas have strong synergies with our portfolio’s existing leadership of key learning, teaching and assessment functions, and we are excited to expand our purview to lead these additional functions for the university. Here’s everything you need to know about the transition and new portfolio structure.
The New DigEd
The new teams will be established alongside our existing teams, expanding the portfolio to six teams, with the six team leads forming the portfolio leadership group alongside the Director:
DigEd’s team-based approach will continue and we’ll be working flexibly and synergistically across our six teams.
Academic Development
Dr Kashmira Dave will lead the Academic Development Team and program of work under DigEd auspices. As part of the transition, we will be refining the Academic Development program and exploring synergies with other DigEd teams to enhance development opportunities for staff and promote the Scholarship of Teaching & Learning at UNE.
Academic Integrity
Academic Integrity will be formalised as a team and operational area within DigEd. The current Academic Integrity Support Officers will move into DigEd, and we will also be establishing and recruiting a new Team Lead, Academic Integrity role. This role will have carriage of workstream coordination, reporting and advisory functions, and take a leadership role in the practice of academic integrity at UNE.
While this transition is undertaken within the university’s existing resourcing profile and all current resourcing and purview for academic integrity processes will remain in place, the transition into DigEd and establishment of a dedicated Team Lead will allow us to address key priorities and pursue opportunities in the academic integrity space. Planning is underway for workstreams around enhanced guidance and capability building for staff, process efficiencies, quality improvements and assessment design.
Transition
The team transition will be finalised shortly, with recruitment of the new Team Lead role to commence in the near future. All usual processes, contacts and communication channels will remain in place, and you’ll now see Academic Development and Academic Integrity communications come through DigEd channels. Keep an eye out for more information on some of the new initiatives we are planning, as well as updates on upcoming events like the 2024 Learning & Teaching Symposium.
