Our latest project, developed in collaboration with Dr Bronwyn Hopwood, curator of UNE’s Museum of Antiquities (UNEMA), introduces an exciting new way to engage with history. Dr Hopwood approached us with the idea to create 2D and 3D animations to accompany items on display, enhancing the visitor experience. Each artefact is paired with a QR code, allowing users to interact with the media directly through their devices.

We jumped at the opportunity to bring this vision to life.

Why It Matters

This project isn’t just about technology – it’s about connecting the past with the present in a way that’s engaging and accessible for everyone. By combining traditional museum displays with mobile technology, we’re creating an immersive experience that brings ancient artefacts to life. The use of 2D and 3D animations, paired with QR codes, ensures visitors of all backgrounds and learning styles can engage with the artefacts in ways that suit them—whether through intricate 3D models, animations explaining mechanical principles, or interacting with media on their own devices.

Supporting UNE’s Strategic Vision

This project directly supports UNE’s Strategic Plan, particularly its focus on innovation and excellence in education. By leveraging advanced technologies like AR, we are contributing to UNE’s goal of fostering “a culture of innovation, creativity, and excellence” (UNE Strategic Plan, 2021–2030).
