Dinh Khanh Le – Postgraduate student, Masters of Agribusiness, University of Adelaide, Adelaide.

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to investigate means of upgrading the coffee value chain in Vietnam to access high value markets, creating more chain surplus as well as improving the welfare for all actors in the chain. Considering the expected impact of climate change on coffee production in Vietnam and changing consumers’ behaviour toward sustainable products, the proposed improvements could be used to enhance the competitive advantage of Vietnamese coffee regarding quality, responsiveness, efficiency and value addition. Additionally, roasters and exporters in the chain could use this information as a premise to develop new marketing strategies to satisfy new demands by customers.
