- Wednesday 5 November – Primary Schools
- Thursday 6 November – Secondary Schools
Far Out Science is a 2-day extravaganza designed to showcase science to primary and secondary school students.
We need volunteers to guide school groups, with their teachers, from buses in the morning to their sessions around campus and back to Lazenby. Where possible, we try to have the same guide with the one group all day, but we are pretty flexible, give us the time you are able. You can join in the sessions or meet the group at the end of each session to lead them to the next activity location.
These are fun days, the students have often travelled for many hours to get here and are excited and ready to be wowed by possibilities. These experiences can truly make a difference in their lives.
You will be given a Far Out Science T-shirt and free lunch. More information is attached about the event and exactly what guides do.
All our guides must have a current WWC (working with children check) for volunteers, UNE WHS have to verify these.
Apply here https://www.service.nsw.gov.au/services/working-with-children, as a volunteer not as a paid worker – no cost involved.
Each guide and class teacher have a roster of their sessions and a map of where these are. Teachers are responsible for their class groups behaviour, first aid, any allergy or special requirements.
If you know anyone else who might want be able to join in, please pass this on, more information is below and attached. Note the map will be updated once we lock in all the academics and locations.
