The UNE Animal Ethics Committee would like to invite and encourage staff and students to come along to one three hour participatory workshop to support a culture of care and raise awareness of compassion fatigue for those who work with animals that will be held on campus between 12-13 November 2025.

This interactive workshop supports animal researchers, animal technicians and other animal research professionals to understand effective ways to create personal and institutional support for emotional aspects of care. It supports awareness of aspects of psycho-social risks in caring professions, including compassion fatigue.

The sessions will be as follows:

  • 12 November – 9-12 noon – Workshop aimed Researchers & Academics
  • 12 November – 1-4pm – Workshop aimed at HDR, Honours and any other students it might be relevant to
  • 13 November – 9-12noon – Workshop aimed Animal Research Technician
  • 13 November  1-4pm – Workshop aimed General public, UNE staff/students who cannot attend other sessions are welcomed to come to this one if the time suits you – please note that it will not be as targeted to animal research as the other sessions.
