Congratulations to Associate Professor Joy Hardy, who has been awarded a Doctor of Education Honoris Causa by the Philippine Normal University – the Philippines’ National Centre for Teacher Education.

Joy described the award as personally and professionally significant saying it is an immense honour.

“On a personal level, receiving this award has been a deeply moving experience for me and my family. It is a tribute not only to my efforts but to the many wonderful mentors, colleagues and others in the education community in Australia and the Philippines. Professionally, it strengthens my resolve to continue working with government bodies, researchers and educators in ongoing and future projects to support the Philippine government’s education reform agenda.”

The honorary award is in recognition of Joy’s lifelong dedication to the cause of teacher education and student learning, being internationally known for her contribution to education and policy research focusing on teacher development, curriculum, environmental education and post-structuralist perspectives.

For her scholarship as expert on Curriculum Quality Audit and the Teaching Standards, publishing and writing extensively and leading numerous large-scale international research projects on teacher education and curriculum.

For her invaluable leadership as Associate Professor of Education at the University of New England and Deputy Director of SiMERR National Research Centre, spearheading high-impact education research and professional learning projects across Australia and overseas, including the Philippines.
