UNE’s revamped Early Entry system is now live, offering high school students applying for 2026 a faster, easier, and more transparent way to secure a place at university. As UNE’s biggest entry channel for schoolleavers, this upgrade ensures a smoother experience for applicants each year.

This comprehensive overhaul was initiated following the 2021 Admissions Review, which identified a major revamp of the Early Entry process as a priority. After careful planning—including developing detailed specifications in November 2022 and securing budget approval in May 2023—the new system is now fully operational.

Key improvements include:

  • An enhanced application form with an automated workflow
  • Better data validation and checks
  • Consistent, transparent decision-making
  • A more flexible, scalable system that reduces reliance on outdated technology and supports future demand.

Notable benefits for all stakeholders include:

  • A simplified application process for students, high school staff, and UNE staff
  • Faster decision-making and reduced processing times
  • Increased capacity to process more applications efficiently.

In the first week of going live, the system demonstrated its effectiveness by fully processing 415 applications. It also captured 250 saved but unsubmitted applications, and 165 applications already submitted by schools. In addition, 250 catchment schools have been uploaded into the SRM.

To ensure continued success a Change Champion Networking Group will be established to provide ongoing support for the system. Additionally, further development and resource assessments will ensure the system’s long-term sustainability and effectiveness. Future steps include exploring integrations with UNE’s CRM for improved strategic reporting and further refining the user experience.

UNE’s School Liaison team continues to work closely with career advisors to ensure that all catchment schools are fully informed about the new process.
