From 1 January 2025, UNE researchers can make use of another Read & Publish agreement, bringing the total number of agreements to nine.

The Sage Read & Publish agreement includes over 900 hybrid journals in the agreement (most of Sage’s hybrid journals), meaning UNE researchers can publish open access in these journals without needing to pay the associated article processing charge (APC), potentially saving thousands of dollars per article.

Ben Gooley, Manager Scholarly Communications, at Dixson Library explains that “since the current agreements started in 2022, UNE researchers have published over 350 articles through the agreements, and saved over $1.5 million in APCs covered through the agreements.”

The Sage agreement includes many top journals from across all three faculties and is an uncapped agreement.

UNE’s other existing Read & Publish agreements are with AIP Publishing, Cambridge University Press, CSIRO Publishing, Elsevier, Oxford University Press, Springer Nature, Taylor & Francis, and Wiley.
