You may recall that members of the previous Diversity Advisory Committee engaged in an extensive consultation and revision process to strengthen the Committee’s representation, visibility and accountability to the University’s leadership in assisting to shape our direction in equity, diversity and inclusion matters.
The Equity Committee aims to be an open and safe space for staff and students to discuss equity, diversity and inclusion (EDI) initiatives and programs and share ideas about EDI programs that UNE may run. The Equity Committee is to make recommendations to myself, the Executive Team and relevant governance committees on matters relating to EDI that impact staff, students and the wider UNE community.
As per the Terms of Reference, the Committee is seeking nominations from current staff and students with lived experiences in one or more equity groups as well as from allies to our diverse staff and student cohorts.

From 2025, the Committee will meet at least four (4) times per year and members may be required to contribute to related activities, such as commenting on draft documents, assisting with organising events or other. All meetings are held online and in person on our Armidale campus (hybrid). We may hold meetings at one of our other campuses in the future.
