Congratulations to Dr James Page (Jim Page), an adjunct professor in peace studies with UNE, for the recent shortlisting in the Albury City Short Story Award, an annual national literary award curated by the Write Around the Murray Festival.
The shortlisted creative non-fiction ‘Strange Road to Freedom’ is jointly authored with former Congolese refugee Sagamba Muhira and is part of a larger ethnographic project which aims, in part, to educate people about the realities of war and conflict. Work from the project has previously been recognized in the Art of Creative Unity Awards, curated by the International Human Rights Arts Festival; the Fish Memoir Prize; the Banjo Paterson Writing Awards: the Newcastle Short Story Awards; and the Grieve Project.
