The Bistro (formerly The ‘Stro) has long been the only location at the Armidale campus that provides suitable facilities and space for use by students, staff and community.
It was closed due to damage from the supercell storm event in October 2021, which significantly displaced trade and activities for UNE Life Events & Catering.
This is a huge project with many moving parts. Stage 1 is complete, and includes a rebrand as well as full refurbishment of the bar, including the replacement of all cabinetry, finishes, equipment, plumbing, and flooring. The original timber bar has been refinished and now sits above a contemporary subway tile façade. The main area flooring, stage and wall finishes have also been upgraded, as has the external balcony.
The upgrade of the amenities and the mezzanine will be delivered in future stages, the mezzanine area will remain closed until building non-compliances have been addressed. Watch this space for Stage 2.
The teams at UNE Life, EBE, UNE Life Events and Catering have been working closely to ensure this project has been executed collaboratively and efficiently.
