Help needed!

Moves are underway to establish Armidale’s first ever Skeptics In The Pub group.

Skeptics In The Pub is an Australia-wide volunteer initiative of Australian Skeptics Inc.  Australian Skeptics Inc.

Armidale people who value critical thinking, logic, ethics, and the scientific method, will gather each month for drinks and lively conversation over dinner together, followed by a presentation from an authoritative guest speaker.

Speakers will apply their critical thinking skills to present issues in health, science, technology, history, politics, the social sciences, and the arts.

The Armidale Skeptics In The Pub will aim to:

  • encourage thoughtful, rational exploration of the world around us.
  • promote scientific education and a sense of wonder in the natural world.
  • encourage people to think carefully and seek appropriate evidence before coming to a conclusion on any issue.
  • welcome people from all walks of life to join.

The University of New England’s Corporate Communications team has generously agreed to help promote Skeptics In The Pub on all of the university’s communications platforms.

But we need the following volunteers to be part of the group as soon as possible:

  • A lecturer or researcher who is passionate about society’s need for critical thinking and who enjoys communicating.
  • A person who is confident and competent to ensure that the monthly guest speakers have no glitches on the night with their IT set-up (laptops, audio visuals, projectors, and microphones).
