UNE has appointed a contractor to undertake the demolition of storm-damaged buildings Madgwick Hall (C008) and C006.

Site establishment will begin this month, followed by the removal of hazardous material. The buildings will then be demolished in 2024. The works will be undertaken with due consideration of activities taking place in adjacent spaces to minimise disruption.

A landscape architect has been engaged to develop a landscape design for the site following demolition and consideration for acknowledgment of Madgwick Hall and the wider Madgwick legacy are being considered for inclusion in the landscape design.

The Madgwick family has been notified of this decision.
