Staff and students acknowledged Sorry Day by placing hands on a Sorry Tree in an event held in the Ingrid Moses courtyard on 26 May. The event was opened by Elder-in-Residence, Uncle Colin Ahoy, who delivered the Welcome to Country. This was followed by acknowledgements from Sam Fowler, Acting Director of the Oorala Aboriginal Centre and Prof. Mike Wilmore who said the hands on the Sorry Tree are a visible commitment of UNE to reflect on the dreadful injustices of the past and how we can all play a part in the healing process through better understanding.
