On Thursday 29th July, UNE will be hosting its second Learning and Teaching Symposium. “After the success of last year’s symposium this is another opportunity for the UNE community to come together and share those innovative learning and teaching practices that have supported our students through the very challenging times of the past year”, said Executive Principal Education Futures, Professor Steven Warburton.
This year, the symposium will be built around the key theme Above and Beyond, reflecting how UNE as an institution has been able to rise above and move beyond the challenges we have faced. The symposium will provide a forum for thinking about new directions in our learning and teaching practices as we move into a Post-COVID future. “Timely and forward focused, the Symposium will address pressing issues associated with the COVID moment” commented organising committee member Associate Professor Jenny Charteris.
“This year’s symposium’s programme has been expanded to accommodate more presentations” said Associate Professor Mitch Parkes, “It’s great to see more colleagues sharing their innovative practices with the rest of the UNE community.” The wide and varied program will have something for everyone from UNE Collections to virtual field trips; from game-based learning and robots to the use of tools such as the lightboard; to name but a few. “The presentations are highly relevant for all teaching staff as we reimagine unit content, delivery and student engagement to ensure relevance through COVID-19 and beyond”, according to organising committee member, Dr Jonathan Moss.
