Thank you to everyone who has engaged with us on the policy reform work to date. We have been introducing the project and the proposed draft policy framework to many areas across UNE. Keep an eye out for opportunities to engage in the faculties, schools and directorates, and with us directly.

One question we often get asked in these sessions is ‘how will policy reform benefit my work or studies?

Our aim is that at the end of this reform process:

  • it is easier for you to find the policy information you need, when you need it;
  • policies are clearer on what you and others need to do in your work and studies (roles, responsibilities and expectations);
  • there is better correlation between the work you do, what happens and what policies say;
  • it is easier for us to check that policies are working as intended; and
  • there will be an improved feedback process, and better communication about changes to policies and the impact of changes on you.

Apart from this engagement on the reform work, we are working with relevant areas on refining our proposed thematic policy groups, understanding and agreeing high-level work practices or business processes, and discussing the key principles which will guide us in each of these groups. This is the foundation work that will be used to inform the drafting of principles and guidelines for our new policy groups.

All staff and students at UNE will have the opportunity to provide feedback on the new policy documentation so look out for future editions of UNE Pulse for more updates on policy reform and invitations to provide your views.

If you have any further information about the project or have any questions, please contact Ryan Young, Caitlin Rowe or Gabrielle Price on policies@une.edu.au.
