Australia’s Ambassador to Ethiopia, His Excellency Mr Peter Doyle, recently met UNE higher degree research students from the country for afternoon tea at the UNE SMART Farm.

Conversation ranged from current and past politics of their homeland to how many Ethiopians study overseas as postgraduate students. It was a matter of concern for the students that many of their fellows did not return to Ethiopia after completing their studies. The cohort felt it was important to take their research outcomes back home to improve agriculture and health outcomes.

The afternoon tea was part of broader two-day itinerary to showcase the depth and breath of UNE’s research in agriculture, animal science and regional innovation and entrepreneurship.
