UNE alumna, Nina Cass, has been awarded a prestigious Cambridge Australia Scholarship.
The Cambridge Australia Charlie Perkins Scholarship for 2019. This Scholarship is designed to support Indigenous Australians who have the potential to become leaders in their field of study and in their communities and are awarded on the basis of academic merit.
Nina, a Birpai woman from Wauchope in NSW, who now lives in Moree, will undertake a PhD in Education at St Edmund’s College, Cambridge, England. She graduated from the University of Western Sydney in 2011 with a Bachelor of Social Science majoring in Humanitarian and Peace Studies. Nina has also completed a Master of Education at Deakin University, examining the implications of racism when seeking rental accommodation. She recently graduated with a Graduate Certificate in Arts from UNE.
Cambridge Australia Scholarships (CAS) provides scholarships for outstanding Australian graduates to undertake Masters and PhD studies at the University of Cambridge. In collaboration with The Cambridge Commonwealth, European and International Trust, Cambridge Australia Scholarships awards up to ten PhD scholarships and a number of Masters degree half-scholarships each year; we are funded entirely by private philanthropy
