Representatives from UNE, Indonesian universities and other interested Indonesian and international universities and organisations, recently met in Bali to consolidate current partnership achievements and explore opportunities with attendees with similar interests to UNE.

Professor Annabelle Duncan and Professor Dr Anondho Wijanarko, General Secretary of the Directorate General of Resources for Science Technology and Higher Education (DG-RSTHE), Ministry of Research, Technology, and Higher Education, Indonesia, sign the Scholarship Agreement. The Scholarship for Postgraduate Education Overseas Scholarship (BPP-LN) PhD is open to permanent lecturers in Higher Education within the Ministry to continue their studies at the Doctoral level at overseas universities, now including UNE.

The goal of the “Indonesia-UNE: Partner and Collaborate” event was to celebrate UNE being formally recognised as a high quality higher degree education provider for Indonesia and build on our current collaborative activities.

While UNE has been engaged within Indonesia for many years and most prominently within the last 5 years through the IndoBeef project development, this engagement event was important and demonstrated our commitment to the development of long term, mutually beneficial outcomes for all parties.

Our intention here was to engage, with new and existing partners, to develop a list of focused activities and opportunities of substance for future development, in the areas of research, academic exchange, and education and training.

The event was a success and the interest from the attendees generated enthusiasm beyond expectation. Identified opportunities will now be followed-up, with the intention to develop an International Partnership Consortium in the near future.
