Contract cheating causes considerable concern across the education sector. This seminar shares research findings into the nature of the academic custom writing industry and the people who work for it as well as the patterns of behaviour we are observing in students who use these services. It takes a close look at some of the key messages this information is sending us about what we can do to address this insidious problem.
It uses these findings to equip academic staff with new approaches and strategies to detect and deter contract cheating, answering questions such as: what are the signs of contract cheating? How can we raise awareness about this problem? What sorts of things might make a difference to students and their behaviour?
The seminar will be presented by A/Prof. Cath Ellis on Friday 16 November from 10.30-11.30am in the Lewis Lecture Theatre.
