The Parramatta Eels will begin 2019 NRL preparations next week with a seven-day training camp at UNE from Sunday 4th November.
Making use of the impressive SportUNE facility, the team will complete a full week of activity including on field training, weights, leadership sessions and yoga groups, to name a few. The attending squad includes notable players Tim Mannah, Clint Gutherson and Bevan French.
The University of New England is a popular choice amongst elite sporting teams for high-performance camps, with access to accommodation, lecture theatres, gym and fields all within a few hundred metres of eachother.
The Eels camp marks the second high-performance NRL visit this year, with Sport UNE also being chosen to host the NRL referees Pre-Selection Camp back in January.
David Schmude, CEO of UNE Life said “We continue to be very proud of our sporting facilities here at UNE. We have a long tradition of high-performance teams in our region using these facilities on our beautiful campus.”
Over the week, the Eels will be out and about giving their time to the community through a working visit to local drought-affected farms to help out, and experience farm-life.
“It’s exciting to not only host the squad, but to be able to showcase the Armidale region and demonstrate the unique lifestyle, and challenges, faced by regional Australia.”
The team will return to Sydney on the 9th November.
