The English Language Centre (ELC) recently hosted 15 students and two chaperones from Tsurumi University in Japan.

The group were here for two weeks and during their stay they participated in English classes, excursions and activities as well as a weekend at Barrington Outdoor Adventure Centre. The students stayed with homestay providers and really enjoyed the supportive and friendly home environment while embracing Australian culture.

UNE students currently studying Japanese joined many of the activities with Tsurumi students as ‘buddies’, which provided Tsurumi students with the opportunity to meet and spend time with young Australians – a real highlight of the tour for them!

UNE has an MoU with Tsurumi University to provide an English Language immersion program for a selected group of students every two years on a continuing basis. This program is always successful.
