The UNE Study Centre in Taree has a fresh new look.

Work began at the end of June and is now complete. There are more computers, more work spaces and an extra BreakOut Room for quiet study or small-group tutorials. There’s also more seating space for face-to-face or video conference workshops.

For students, the Taree Study Centre is an ideal space for some quiet study time, to catch up on lectures and readings or to get cracking on the next essay. It’s also a great place to meet up with other students, talk through assessment tasks, to collaborate and to share their learning experiences. These are effective tactics to complement successful online study.

All of the computers are running Windows 10 with touch-screen technology and a full choice of the latest Microsoft software and all the popular internet browsers including Explorer, Chrome and Firefox. There is a super-fast MFD printer/scanner and every student has received a complimentary $5.00 credit on their printing accounts to help alleviate the cost of printing unit materials and other documents. Students visiting the Taree Study Centre have unlimited access to the UNE wi-fi network via EduRoam which makes watching lectures and downloading unit materials, using their own devices, fast and free.

There is also a free direct-dial phone that connects directly with staff on campus in Armidale and a handy list of numbers for things like the library, Student Central, student support, IT service, exams and the Academic Skills Office.

The UNE Study Centre in Taree is open from 6.30am to 10.30pm every day of the year, even during trimester breaks and on weekends. Students (and staff) with an ID card, can request access to allow entry whenever they like during these hours.

The office is fully staffed Monday to Friday from 9am to 5pm. Staff are available to help students with whatever they need to make their academic journey successful and stress-free. Advice is available on choosing the right course, enrolment and choosing units, switching courses, advanced standing, taking a break and resuming study, scholarships, accommodation, intensive schools, exams, text books and how to contact the right person on campus for support, advice and assistance.

Taree Study Centre Coordinator, Yves Byers says, “All UNE staff and students are welcome to call in and say g’day. Grab a coffee and take a look at the new and improved Study Centre in Taree.”
